Module Description

The component worksheet is used to massively change components of bills of materials and production orders.

It often happens that a component used in several BOMs and production orders becomes obsolete and must be replaced by a new component. Using this view, you can change the component massively, without having to reopen each linked BOM/order manually.

Functionality

To open the feature, search for the “Component Management View” function in the menu bar.

The following page will open:

By clicking on “Calculate components” a screen will open with various options, these options allow the system to calculate only the bills of materials/production orders that interest us most:

  • Source: Production DB or Production Order.

By setting DB production the system will explode (and if necessary replace) all DB rows in the table with the component that I will select later.

Setting production order instead will explode (and if necessary replace) all the production order component rows (not yet started) with the component I will select later;

REPLACE Tab:

Indicate the article or production DB to search for:

  • Type: Enter the type of item or Bill of Material to replace. If the origin entered is “Production Order” it will not be possible to enter the type “Bill of Material”.
  • Nr: Enter the item or DB number to be replaced.

Tab WITH:

indicates the item or DB to replace the one previously set:

  • Type: Enter the type of item or BOM with which the item or BOM entered in the previous fields will be replaced. If the entered origin is “Production order” it will not be possible to enter the type “Bill of materials”.
  • Nr: Enter the number of the item or DB with which the item or DB entered in the previous fields will be replaced.

In addition to the main fields listed above, you can set other controls or features:

  • Check replacement items: If activated, when the report is launched a page will open where it will be possible to view the replacement items present in the master data of the item inserted in the “Replace” field.
    From here you can then select the item that will replace the one indicated previously:
  • Create new version: The replacement will not be made directly on the article DB but a new DB version will be generated.
  • Multiply quantity by: Set the field with a multiplication factor for the quantity currently present on the DB / component line.
    To perform the calculation, the system will take this value and multiply it by the “quantity for” set on the DB or on the component line.
  • Version Date Filter: Filters all DB versions that have an effective date that falls within the set filter.
  • Start date: It will be mandatory to indicate the start date of validity of the new row created.
  • Cycle link code: indicate here the Cycle – DB link code to be set on the new component row.

Using the Article Tab below you can set filters to only consider certain parent articles.

By clicking OK the form will process the data.

The system will fill in the batch based on how the previous screen was set up, showing on the screen the current values of the components, quantities, cycle connection code, and the recalculated values as replacements.

These fields can be edited line by line directly in the form before implementing them:

Once the checks have been made we can proceed to modify the DB/production orders, at this point it is necessary to insert the “Accept action messages” flag, or simply select the lines that you want to accept/reject:

You can then proceed to implement the changes using the Replace Components function.

  • Replace components: Set to yes to perform replacement of row components in the batch;
  • Change quantity: to make changes to the “Quantity for” of the lines in the batch;
  • Change scrap: to change the scrap percentage of the rows in the batch;
  • Change cycle link: to change the link between cycle and production DB of the rows in the batch;
  • Change position: to change the position in the production DB of the batch rows.

PRODUCTION DB Tab

If you make changes to your production DBs you can use these features:

  • Certify: to certify the production DB of the rows in the batch;
  • New Version Start Date: To set the “Start Date” in the new BOM version created.

By pressing OK the system will make the desired changes.

Lines that were previously accepted in the table will be replaced on the corresponding production order BOMs / Components and deleted from the batch.
