Module Description
The procedure allows the generation of the packing list directly linked to the documents.
For each item, or item-variant combination, it is possible to enter a packaging composition, indicating the type of package/pallet in which the item can be packed with the relative quantity.
Setup
There are two types of packaging that can be coded:
- Package
- Pallet
An item, or variant item, can be packed either in a package or on a pallet.
In the first case it is also possible to indicate a container pallet.
package item report
Using the Item – Package Relationship table, searchable from the menu, it is possible to indicate for each item its primary packaging, which can be either package or pallet type.
In the Qty per unit of measure field, you can enter the quantity of the item that can be inserted in the indicated package (always in reference to the basic unit of measure):
It is possible to indicate more than one package for each item, but it is necessary to indicate the default package, with the flag of the same name, in order to use the automatic pre-compilation functionality of the packing list.
Pallet package report
In case a package can be inserted inside a pallet, it is possible to indicate the relation with the relative quantity inside the Pallet package relation table:
Here too, the default flag is used to manage the automatic generation of the packing list.
Variant management
Within the Origins setup, searchable from the menu, in the Unload Packaging tab there is the Activate packing list for variant flag which allows you to manage the packaging assignment more specifically to the item – package combination:
Activation causes an action to appear within the Item – Package Relationship view that allows the opening of an additional table.
This is linked to the line you are currently positioned on, which indicates the default for the item in case a specific association is not indicated for the variant:
Item and variant master data
Inside the item and in the variants table (only if the functionality at point 2.3 is active) there are some fields that show the packages indicated as default in the relation tables:
In addition to the type of package and pallet, the quantities that can be contained in them are also indicated.
These fields are then used by the automatic pre-filling system of the packing list.
Functionality
Packing list structure
The packing list can be defined at the following level:
- sales order
- warehouse shipments
- cumulative shipments
- registered sales shipments
- transfer order
- Registered Transfer Shipment
On each of the previous pages there is a function that allows the creation and consultation of the packing list:
The displayed page is made up of three sections:
- General
- Lines
- Detail
General
It represents the “header of the packing list”, it contains the following information:
- Nr.: this field must be automatically generated by the system. The numerator relating to the Packing Lists will be set at the Warehouse Setup level.
- Description: Free text field;
- Pickup Date/Time
- Net weight: editable field
- Gross Weight: editable field
- Tara: editable field
- Created by: User, automatically populated by the system, not editable
- Creation: Populated with creation date and time automatically by the system, not editable
- Assigned to - Document type: Description of the document type (Warehouse Shipment, Cumulative Shipment, Registered Sales Shipment, Sales Order).
- Assigned to - Document No.: Assignment Document No.
Packing Lines
- No. Package: This field will be populated automatically (setup at Warehouse setup level)
- Package type (package or pallet)
- package Code: package Code
- Quantity: will be automatically populated with quantity 1;
- Assigned Pallet: represents the number of the pallet type package that contains the package type packages
- Description: shows the description of the entered package code (Editable field);
- Assigned Pallet Description: displays the description of the Assigned Pallet (Editable field);
- Net weight: Will be populated after assigning the content (item) to the package itself
- Tare
- Gross Weight: shows the weight assigned to the package
Packing Lines Detail
This TAB shows the details of the contents of each package:
- item: Reports the item code;
- Description: shows the description of the item;
- Quantity: Quantity present inside the reference package
- Unit of measurement: reports the unit of measurement
- Package No.: non-editable field showing the reference package number;
- Package Code: non-editable field showing the reference package code.
In the packing list there is a Fact box that reports the traceability information entered for each row (containing items) of the packing list itself:
Packing list creation
By selecting the item “actions\ functions\ packing list” the page dedicated to the compilation\ management of the packing list opens; compilation which can be manual or automatic:
- Manual
Manual compilation involves entering two types of information:
- The packing structure itself
- Assigning items to packages
Operationally, it is necessary to fill in the lines section reporting the pallets and packages that make up the shipment, associating each package with the reference pallet; once this is done, it is necessary to fill in the packages using the function:
Function that opens a page showing the lines of the document from which the packing itself originates and allows the quantities to be assigned:
In order not to charge different quantities than those managed in the original document, the system will present the remainder to be assigned as the available quantity; with the manual assignment of the items, traceability is automatically connected.
- Automatic
The automatic procedure provides for the automatic compilation of packages by drawing on the setups made in "package item relations" and "pallet package relations"
Example:
Cream item with:
Pallet package relations made like this:
A line with 4 quantities has been inserted into the document
Selecting the item from the packing list
The system will fill in the lines as follows:
That is, 2 pallets containing two boxes containing a single quantity.
In this case, if the item provides for traceability management, it is necessary to enter the information:
select the package line and in the packing list line detail section the item
A page will open
Where to indicate the lot (previously assigned on the document line) and the quantity managed in that single package; the top of the page shows the available residue for that package.
In the header of the packing list there is a weight calculation function through which the system can calculate the total weight of the shipment:
The packing list created in a sales order is linked to its posted warehouse shipment; the packing list created from a cumulated shipment is linked to the posted sales shipment.
