1) What are they for?
Notification Recipients are the email addresses that receive administrative notifications related to the Business Central tenant environments (e.g., availability of major updates, update results, apps/extensions not compatible with an upcoming update).
2) Prerequisites (permissions and access)
To manage these settings, you need access to the Business Central administration center . Users with Microsoft Access (Azure AD) roles such as Dynamics 365 Administrator or Dynamics 365 Business Central Administrator can access the administration portal.
3) How to open the Business Central Admin Center
You can access in two ways:
Option A — From Business Central
- Sign in to Business Central.
- At the top right, go to Settings (gear) > Admin Center .
Option B — Via direct URL
- Open a browser.
- Enter the URL in the format:
https://businesscentral.dynamics.com/[TENANT_ID]/admin
replacing [TENANT_ID] with your tenant ID.
Tip: The article states that the tenant ID is also visible on the Business Central Help and Support page.
4) Where to configure the Notification recipients list
In the Business Central administration center :
- In the left menu, select Notification recipients .
- You'll see a list of email addresses that will receive notifications. (Management is done by adding/removing recipients.)
5) Add a recipient (operational best practice)
Once on the Notification recipients page:
- Add a new email address (or mailing list/distribution list).
- Save changes.
Important recommendations
- Please enter at least one administrator address so you don't miss events that require administrative attention.
- You can add up to 100 recipients . If you need more people, create a distribution list and add that one as the recipient.
6) Remove or edit recipients
Also from Notification recipients :
- Locate the address you want to update.
- Remove or edit it (if the interface allows it) and save .
Note: Microsoft also recommends, if you change partners or end your collaboration, verifying that the addresses in this section are still valid and removing any that are no longer valid.
7) Email / spam checks (essential)
To not miss any update communications:
- Check that emails do not end up in spam/quarantine.
- Notifications are sent from: no-reply-dynamics365@microsoft.com
👉 Practical tip: Ask your IT department to allowlist the sender (or Microsoft policies) according to company rules.
8) Important note on the future of notifications
Microsoft indicates that many events are also published to the Microsoft 365 Message Center , and that, over time, emails sent to notification recipients will become a subset and may be deprecated .
Therefore, in addition to the recipient list, it is advisable to also organize yourself on the Microsoft 365 side (Message Center) to avoid missing important communications.
